August, Summer 2013, Amos Cotton is 34, Nita is 28, and Aspen is 2. (Rupert Cotton is 33, Simon Lewis is 31, Winthrop is 3.5, and Orlando is 4 months.) Last update.
On one of the rare mornings that Amos and Nita try to slip off to spend some time together Aspen decides that she needs attention... and a diaper change.
So their early morning delight is cut drastically short. And Aspen gets her way!
Not that Nita cares. Aspen is the apple of her eye! She could never have imagined how a child could turn her life upside down, but in a good way. Nita loves every waking moment that she has with Aspen. She wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world.
The same goes for Amos. He's wanted a family for so long, and now that he has one he doesn't waste a moment of it. Plus, Aspen seems to be growing so fast. It seems like only yesterday they were bring her home from the hospital, and now, she's walking and starting to be potty trained. Man, where as the time gone?
But Nita and Amos make sure to make time for each other as well. A marriage doesn't stay healthy on it's own, you have to work at it. And they do.
But lately Nita has been feeling extremely tired, and her stomach is doing flip flops. So drinking a bunch of mint tea helps a lot.
But she knows exactly why she's feeling the way she is. She's pregnant! She tells Amos and he's bursting with joy! Maybe that's why it seems Aspen is growing up so fast. She's making room for the new addition!
The morning sickness is killing Nita. It seems to be worse this time around.
And not to mention the gas as well. It always hits after breakfast. Amos loves his wife but she needs to take that funky stuff away from his morning omelet.
Simone normally brings Winthrop over once or twice a week for his play date with Aspen. The to adore each other, and both mothers think there just may be a romance with the two in the future.
Too bad Winthrop will be starting school this fall. He's two years older than Aspen, he'll be turning 4 this month. But hopefully he'll still want to come for play dates once he starts school. Nita knows if he doesn't Aspen will miss him greatly.
She has already shared her good news about the pregnancy with Simone. Now she wonders how will it be with two little ones under the age of five.
Simone tells her that it's really not that hard, granted, Orlando is still at the age where he'll sleep through anything. But she's sure that once he's up and mobile things won't be that different.
And he really can sleep through anything.
The kids are beating and banging on the activity table. Nita hopes that her new addition will be able to sleep through Aspen's hours of playtime.
Rupert also drops by. Something he does a lot of. Once he had moved out to live with Sharla he would stop by to see his brother, but now, he stops by to see his niece. He adores her as well!
And Nita has to admit he sure does look hot taking care of a toddler.
Once Aspen gets tired of uncle Rupert she leaves her mother there to entertain him. And Nita dislikes it. They always end up standing or sitting there with nothing to say.
But she does share the good news with him. And Rupert is happy for his brother and Nita.
They sit down for lunch meat sand witches. Even though she's still early in the pregnancy, this is what Nita is craving. That awkward silence comes back.
She doesn't know why but she blurts out that Rupert can never, never tell Amos about the night they spent together.
He laughs, and agrees. If he had known that she was going to get back with his brother, Rupert never would have slept with her. But what's done is done, and now, it's water under the bridge.
She looks at him, as serious as she can be. "You have to promise. You will never tell Amos. I love him to much to hurt him like that."

Baby Cotton is due May 2014. Both Nita and Amos spun up the want to have a baby, plus they are always trying to have a baby. I took off birth control and she got knocked up on the first go.
I'm glad for them. With all the drama they went through I'm happy everything is going so well. Here to hoping things from the past don't come back and bite Nita on the bum!
Oh Nita, that's just a recipe for diaster! I hope Amos never finds out because this is a great family.....it would be a shame
ReplyDelete:(......on a lighter note, Aspen is too cute!
Another baby, so cute. I hope their slip up doesn't come out. Maybe she should consider telling him especially since it was so long ago
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Winthrop and Aspen are ADORABLE together! I won't mind Nita having another baby one bit. ;)
ReplyDeleteI almost thought Nita would slip and start making out with Rupert or something! I'm glad she didn't though. It's nice to have a few stable couples around!
MizzGin, tell me about it! Hopefully Amos will never find out. I mean his brother and his wife. Not good. But it would make for some lovely drama!
ReplyDeleteApple, I thought about it, but Nita has the fear of Amos being mad at her. So I look at that as her having the fear of him finding out her and Rupert. So for now mums the word.
Carla, Wait until you see Winthrop as a child. I love him. He's so cute! And I just love Aspen to death. I'm very excited about the new baby.
So did I, but even though she has three bolts for him all her focus is on Amos. She loves him, so I'm not worried about her and Rupert. ;)
Oh man, I was just BRACING myself for a kiss or something between Rupert and Nita. But they truly behaved themselves! I love Simone. Just had to say that.
ReplyDeleteNita and Amos are preggers again, that makes me very happy. They're a really great couple together. And I adore Amos. Such a nice man, with wonderful values...can't say that for Rupert. *hmmph* But, I still love him anyways..is he acting more civilized these days? LOL!
You are not alone. I was nervous with them too. But they haven't made any advances towards each other since that night. They tolerate each other I guess.
ReplyDeleteAmos and Nita are wonderful together, and she's even spinning up wants left and right for him now. I'm really happy for the two of them.
Eh, what can I say, Rupert is Rupert. I don't think he'll ever change.
