Beep, Beep, Toot, Toot

August, Summer 2009, Nathan Novak and Tosha (?) are 30

The day started off normally for Nat and I. That's my nick name for Nathan, Nat. I think it's cute. He loves it, and it's spread through the family, I have everyone calling him it now, but that's besides the point.

Like I said, Nat and I started off our morning like any other morning. We ate breakfast together then we both left for work.

But I knew something wasn't right when I returned home that evening. Nat gets home before me, and when he wasn't there to greet me I found it strange.

As I was climbing the stairs to our apartment I heard a accident call go out over my personal scanner.

There was a car accident, three were injured and two were dead. I just got this sinking feeling int he pit of my stomach. I knew Nathan was involved in this accident.

I called a cab and changed my clothes as I waited. It seemed to take forever for the cab to show up, when it finally did I almost cussed out the driver, but decided against it.

As soon as he pulled up to the small hospital and tossed my money at him and dashed inside.

I ran to the front desk to the nurse sitting there and asked her about Nathan. Well, I actually asked about the car accident during rush hour.

"Yeah, the one at the construction site," she said. I only nodded my head. She quickly told me what had happened. That the site was closing down for the day when someone forgot to secure the bulldozer, and it rolled down a slopped mini hill. In the process, hitting three cars. Nathan happened to be in one of the vehicles.

"Was Nathan one of the men killed?" I hated to ask the question, but needed to know.

"No, the doctor checked him out. He is a little banged up, and will need a month or two of rehab to help with the back injury."

"Back injury! What back injury?" I shouted.

The nurse calmed me down and, explained that the impacted bruised Nathan's back a little bit and, he will need to tone to give extra strength and support.

After getting over the shock I asked if I could see him. She pointed me towards the room he was staying in.

Can I say I have never been happier seeing him than I did at that moment. He looked so young and innocent sitting there, with his feet hanging over the side of the bed and his head hanging down.

He looked up as I entered the room and greeted me with a warm smile. It made my heart burst with joy. I had to fight back tears. I almost lost him today.

Nathan planted the sweetest kiss upon my lips, and that brought fourth my tears. To know that I almost lost his smooth, warm lips today. To know that I almost lost Nathan in one freak accident, made me shiver in fear.

He pulled away from me and gently dabbed at my tears. It felt good to feel him.

Nat had to take it easy, making sure not to over stress himself as he healed. He was sore too. Good thing the doctor prescribe so pain medication.

I listened to the television as I fixed dinner and I find it funny. I'm a police officer, I deal with accidents, kidnappings, arrests, one would think I'd be used to dealing with stuff like this. But when it hits close to home. When it happens to a loved one, it's a whole other ball game. I guess I just keep counting my lucky stars. Nathan is alive and still with me.

We sat down for dinner and the topic of money eventually came up. I told him that now that money is tight maybe we should tighten our belts on spending and the like.

But Nathan assured me not to worry about money.

He had a good bit saved up. Started saving it once he had graduated from college and before he met me. That taking off work for a month or so for rehab wouldn't hurt us at all.

And I was saving as well. So maybe we would be okay.

But I insisted that I help pay for the wedding. At least buy my own dress and the flowers.

Nathan stared at me for a moment. "I don't want you to have to pay for anything," he insisted.

"Honey, I didn't start dating you and agree to marry you so you could swoop in and save me on your white horse."

"I know you didn't," he laughed. "Okay, fine. If you want to help pay for the wedding, be my guest."

I sat back in my chair with a smirk. Nathan splashed me with his soup.
lol

Nathan started his rehab training, and the best part, since we have equipment at home, he can workout here too.

And I went forth with planning the wedding.

Nanat, Nathan's mom called from Florida. She and her husband of one year, Mathew Smith, have been on an extended honeymoon. She wanted to know how her son was doing and if she should come home. I told her that he was fine and no, she shouldn't come home.

Once Nathan came out of the shower he returned her phone call.

In the morning before I get up for work I just lay with Nathan, listening to him breathing and his heart beating. And I'm grateful that he is safe and sound, and with me.

Growing up is hard to do

Summer, August 2009, Sanjay Ramaswami is 56, Priya is 55, Suni is 13, and Geeta is 11 months

Summer break is almost over and I can't wait. I'm going to high school! Well, I won't be in the 9th grade or anything, but I will be with high schoolers. Just how cool is that!

I really wasn't excited when I started kindergarten, but this is different! I'm actually on the verge of starting my adult life. Yeah, I know I have a few years to go of secondary school, but it's still very exciting!

So I spend a few hours e-mailing and chatting with my friends online, before my mom calls me for a late breakfast. I guess you could call it a brunch. I think brunches are cool. It makes one sound sophisticated!

Breakfast/brunch goes down hill kind of quickly, and I didn't even see it coming. First dad starts going on and on about how fast I'm growing, and were didn't the time go? He couldn't believe that my mom took me bra shopping! OMG! I nearly melted with embarrassment. Why did my mom tell my dad that I got a bar! I wish the floor would just open up and swallow me whole. Seriously, school can't start soon enough.

Then, to make matters worse, he asks me if I've met anyone? OMG! Are you for real? You can tell my the look on my face that I can't believe we are having this kind of conversation. Like I'm going to tell my dad I met a guy.
At least he's cool with whoever I date, not like with my brother Mohindr. Mom and dad really wanted him to marry a girl from back home. Well their home, this is my home. I'm not suck in old traditions, and thank goodness they aren't anymore!
But I'm still not telling him I met a guy over the summer, no way. But I guess me turning red in the face gave that bit of information away.
He turns to my mom and starts going on and on about how I was when I was a baby. He couldn't believe it. It seemed only yesterday I was starting to walk and now I'm starting to date.
Date! Who said anything about dating. All I did was met a guy, who is totally hot, and swoon worthy. Did I mention hot? He is. I can't wait until I see him again. *sigh*
That's when mom decided to travel down memory lane too. Could this get any worse? Where's Geeta? They do remember that I have a little sister that they can fawn over, right?

So finally breakfast/brunch is over. *yay* And the doorbell rings. OMG, it's totally AJ. I can't believe he came over. And I try not to act like a totally loser. When he's around my brain goes on auto pilot, and my mouth kinda talks on it's own accord. It's sad, I know.

But I get it together long enough to invite him in, and we head to my room for some privacy. I do not need a repeat performance from this morning with my parents in front of AJ.

We talk for a bit, he tells me about this game he's saving up for. I'm really not much into video games, I'm an artist, but I nod my head, and ask him what game is it. He tells me it's "Call of Duty 2," and he's wanted it since last year. Money's a little tight at his house, and he does odds and ends and saves all that he makes. But this year he'll be old enough to get a job.

This would be so cool. If he asked me out I would be dating a guy who has a job!

Then he starts to tell me how his brother really wants to pursue this rapper gig, but I kinda zone out. I'm entranced by his lips. They're so smooth, and look so soft. I can't help but to wonder how they would feel on my. Ekk! Bad thoughts! I should not be thinking about kissing... at all. To fast.

He's looking at me, waiting for me to say something. What was he talking about about? Oh, right, his brother.

"I think that's cool. A rapper, huh?"

He smiles and nods his head.

We stand up to stretch our legs, when I get a great idea. One that will have him coming over here for a while.

I tell him that I want to paint his picture. Not to get all artsy on him, but he is my muse, and I want to capture him in paint.

To my surprise he agrees and we head to the living room to get started. I think AJ was a bit bored though. I did turn on the TV. So I didn't paint him as long as I would have liked, but I at least had a reason to stare at him all that I liked! That was a big bonus.

But he told me that he had to leave soon. His mom was big on family dinners and he couldn't be late getting home. I understand, my parents are the same way with me.

And to my surprise, and delight, when I went to hug him goodbye, he kissed me. He kissed ME! I almost passed out. His lips were smoother than I could ever imagine. I can officially turn into a big puddle of goo now.

Out in the world

Spring of 2009, Asia Reed and Tommy Ottamas are 23

After graduation and much discussion Asia and Tommy decided to move in together. It was the next logical step in their relationship. It wasn't that big of a commitment either. They loved each other and living together was a wonderful idea.

They looked at a few apartments, but couldn't find anything they wanted. So Tommy suggested that they buy a house. Asia was a little put off by the idea. They had just exited college and entered the real world, and buying a house was a huge commitment. Bigger than living together. They would be owning a piece of property.

Tommy plead his case. They had the money to buy a small home, nothing fancy. They had save up every penny that they earned during college, minus the tuition fees, and what they saved was a nice nest egg. So without further hesitation Asia agreed and they found a three bed room house near the center of Riverdale.

It was perfect for them. A low maintenance front and back yard, a nice sized kitchen. A cozy living/dining room, and three nicely sized bed rooms as well. And it only cost $24,000. Still leaving them with enough to buy some nice furniture, paint for the walls and, carpeting.

Asia couldn't believe, but she and Tommy were actually starting a life together. This was totally awesome!

Tommy had gotten a job in the Science career shortly after they settled into the new house. Which left little to be with Asia. So on his first day off her took her out for dinner.

Upon arriving at Cafe Mode Asia was cornered by Rupert Cotton. He told her how beautiful she was, and that her skin was as soft as flower.

Asia rolled her eyes, and told him that he was as grimy as dirty car oil. And to back off! (Yeah, finally a female who doesn't like Rupert and I have the proof! As you can see she has no attraction to him whatsoever! And she wants to marry Tommy, lol)

They entered the restaurant and were seated. Asia went on and on about how she loved her new house, and that she was glad Tommy had talked her into purchasing it.

Tommy was happy they had bought the house too. But he wanted to turn the conversation to something else.

So Asia turned the conversation to music. She wanted to go to the theater to see the Sim City Dance Company rendition of Swan Lake. And they would be coming to Riverdale next month to preform. She had always wanted to see them when she was a little girl.

Tommy made a mental note to buy the tickets when they got home, as a surprise for Asia. But he had more pressing matters on his mind. His palms were sweaty, and he was extremely nervous. But he had brought her here for a reason.

He gets Asia's attention once again and starts nervously on about how wonderful they are together. That Asia was his soul mate. She smiled, knowing that she felt the same way about Tommy. How she had secretly had a crush on him since high school, and finally followed through with it in college.

That's when he reached in his pocket and pulled out a little black box, setting it on the table, gaging her reaction.

Asia was speechless. She had no idea this was coming. They had never discussed marriage, and she figured the conversation was years away. She fought back the tears as she reached for the box.

She quickly opened the box and gazed down at the ring. It was beautiful, more than she had ever wanted. And man was that rock huge! Tommy could afford it though. Higher Education was a great thing!

"So, what do you say? Will you be my wife, Asia?" Tommy asked, holding his breath.

Asia removed the ring from the box and placed it on her finger. She blinked back more tears that threatened to fall, "Yes, I'll marry you."

They sat staring at each other, basking in the moment, before Tommy reached over and grasped Asia's hand. Looking down at her ring finger he smiled. "This looks good here."

Asia smiled too as vision of wedding dresses danced in her head. They sat over their meal discussing how soon they wanted to get married and who to invite.

The next few weeks blew by, and the two settled into a domestic life of bliss. Tommy had the desire to garden, being a knowledge sim, he always wanted to learn new things. And Asia started to practice yoga. And that was how the spend their Sunday afternoons. Tommy gardening his small plot of land, and Asia stretching in the back yard.

She still had a lot to learn about yoga, like not to flex when you should hold still. Kissing the concrete is not the best way to learn that little tid -bit.

Asia's mom called later that night. She had finally gotten a night off and wanted to go out to celebrate her daughter's engagement. Asia agreed. A nice night out would be fun.

Getting ready, she decided that it was time for a chance in hair style that is. Asia had sported this style for the past three years of college, and she felt she needed a more mature look now that she was an adult. She had asked Tommy about this a few days before...

"You really love my hair? You wouldn't want me to change it?" She asked, staring at him in disbelief.

"Really, I love your hair..." The words died on Tommy's lips. He knew that look all to well. Asia was going to change her hair no matter what he thought of it. But her really did love her hair.

Asia met up with her mom at a local pub, the Watering Hole, for a drink and to catch up. Her dad and twin brother soon joined them, and they finished the night up with a game of pool.
(Sorry for such a dark picture, but I installed that lighting mod and I need to add more lighting to a lot of lots)

Asia went and got her more "adult" hair style and loved it. She thought it made her look glamorous. The little cat that came to visit thought so too. Or it could have been that fact that Asia took to feeding the stray. Regardless the two were fast becoming friends, and Asia hope to adopt the cat someday.

The two liked to play catch up over their day relaxing in bed at night. That night Tommy brought the subject up about kids. He wanted to start trying soon after they were married. He really wanted to start a family with Asia. And they had the funding for at least one child. He didn't see a problem in it.

Asia knew he wanted kids, she did too. But it was too soon to think about children. Truth be told, she was scared. Sacred that she wouldn't be able to carry a baby full term. She was still getting over the miscarriage from college. Would she even be able to get pregnant again?

She expressed her fears to Tommy, and he understood. "Just let me come to terms with what I lost. Then we can start? Is that okay?" she asked.

Tommy smiled and took her into a hug.

And just because they weren't trying to have a baby didn't mean they still couldn't have fun.
Note from GB: As you can see Tommy wanted to marry Asia just as much as she wanted to marry him. Soon as they moved into their house they both spun up the want, along with Tommy wanting to work in the Science track. So their wedding is scheduled for the summer of 2009.
