Welcome to the jungle

First day of school September 2010. There's a lot of kids in this one. So if you want to see who's where look at this post. One of these days I'm going to get those family trees posted!

Kinda long.

Riverdale Elementary welcomes this years Kindergarten class of two. Twins Beht and Nick McPhee. Beth's more excited about starting school than her brother. But they both are very nervous. They've never been around this many children before. Living life on a farm with your two dogs and mom and dad leads to a very sheltered life.

But their parents think the 45 minute drive to Riverdale is well worth it. They educational system can't be beat.

And Brita Johnson is having a mini crisis at the moment. Why does it seem like everyone showed up with the same hairstyle. This was supposed to be her hairstyle and yet Bri wore it and now Ruolan.

Ruolan is thinking; "Eh, whatever!"

Brita can't help but to send her the side eye of evil.

Rose really wants to impress Bri. She thinks she's so cool and pretty. She wants to be just like her!

Too bad Bri can't say the same about Rose. She is so above this and, she doesn't have time for some third grader. Her nail polish is more interesting than this lame conversation.

Rose feels rejected. She just wants to be friends. But she won't give up. Bri is going to like her no matter what!

Meanwhile, Ruolan has taken a liking to Nick. Their still to young to worry about social standings and popularity. Plus, he's only a grade behind her. Ruolan thinks this is a beautiful start to a new friendship.

Ruiling is thinking her sister's going to get cooties from talking to Nick. Ewww!

Lunch is the last period of the day. First day of school everyone gets a half a day. Which is awesome, because the weather is still nice and kids hate being locked inside; having to study all day.

And you can see the infamous drink machine in the back. Well, I guess all that talking Fatima did with Kristin didn't get the thing removed yet.

But the school does provide the children with a well balance meal. So not many opt out for a sugary drink.

Ruiling explains to her sister how she's going to become a leader of a wolf pack when she gets older. She wants to be a vet and take care of wild animals.

Ruolan just imagines her sister being eaten by said pack. Such a silly girl. You can't be the leader of wild beasts, everyone knows that.

And some not so innocent conversations are being had as well. Anan is sharing what she over heard her sister talking about on the phone the other night.

"When we get bigger. You're going to be my first, Aaron." Anan says, what ever that means. She's going to google it when she gets home.

"Are you sure about that?" Adrian ask.

Her brother is thinking he needs to get more male friends. Hanging out with girls is way stressful.

"My mom said something about it causing you to have a fire crotch."

Anan makes a mental note. She's going to have to google fire crotch too.

Rose it put off by the whole conversation. But she likes the word fire crotch and giggles to herself. She's heard her mom use that word to describe Sharla, their neighbor downstairs. She also calls her some other words that Rose won't repeat.

After lunch the most popular place to be is the playground. It's new and, all the children love it.

So popular in fact that Principal Ottamas has to give a lecture on playground etiquette. But she's not sure how many kids are actually listening to her.

As the merry go round spins Ruolan's eyes land on the high school across the street. It's like this mystical wonderful place to her. Where her big brother goes too, where all the cool stuff happens. And she wonders what he's doing in there right now.

***
Samantha Ottamas is a busy woman these days. And to prove that point she's juggling two schools at once. But this is only temporary, the school board will be hiring a new Principal for the elementary school some time this week.

She stands gazing out at the young faces that fill the auditorium as she begins to welcome them to their new school year. So listen while others reacquaint themselves with friends they haven't seen over the summer.

"Man, I say we go skinny dipping again. That was the bomb!" Nora says between giggles. Mary isn't too sure she would be game for that water sport any time soon.

Ye isn't sure how Cameron does it, but she's gotten prettier over the summer. And did her breast get bigger? He's also still mad with Viggo calling her fat. She is perfect, and certainly not fat. (No, I don't think he'll let Viggo live that down... ever!)

"Girls, are you listening?"

Said girls give Samantha a quizzical look. They can no idea what she's talking about and, the burst into a fit of giggles. Yes, it was great to be seniors!

Filing out of the auditorium and to their home rooms Ye sneaks a quick peek at one of Cameron's rear and, so does Oliver.

AJ is mulling over a very important decision. He really like Suni but he also likes Lilly. But, he also doesn't want to breakup with Suni. He's so stumped, he has no idea what to do.

***
Like Riverdale Elementary, Riverdale Jr/Sr High gets a half a day too.

Samantha is happy to see that Viggo has made a few friends and his little slip up last year hadn't followed him to school.

Mary sits with them as well. Showing him a little support could go a long way. If others see her with him, they'll think he's pretty cool.

Mary also talks about soccer camp, how much fun she had even though it was cloudy most of the time.

Ye tries to have lunch with Cameron but she finished her can of pop before he sits down. She gets up and heads back inside the cafeteria without even seeing him.

Playing football inside the lunch room? And Samantha isn't doing a thing about it!

Ye finally builds up the confidence to complement Cameron on her outfit. It's an older one, but he really likes it on her!

Cameron is a bit flattered and tells him thanks. He can be sweet at times.

Keegan grabs Lilly in a head lock and gives her a noggie.

Lilly's thinking; "So not cool!"

Outtakes:
I like this pic. Mary practicing in the school gym. Working on another scholarship!

Adrian was swooning over woohoo too. This is what happens when you have teens living in the house!

I've never seen the marry go round this full before.

Seriously, this is Rose smiling. She's evil looking no matter what she does. Poor child. I can't wait to see how she looks as a teen.

(notes: My schools were mad houses. Kids talking about woohoo, teens playing football at lunch. It's funny, the little ones are talking about sex but the big ones aren't. Who are the ones with the hormones again?)

Footprints in the sand

September, Fall 2010, Mary Snowden, Lilly Sanchez, Nora Reed, AJ Christian and, Danny Ottamas are 17, Keegan Ottamas is 15

The group decides to met up at North Shore Public Beach. It's right across the street from Mary's new house, so she didn't have far to travel. But Nora complains about how hard it was for her to convince her mom to let her use the family van. She wanted to know why she had to drive all the way out to the suburbs at night. Of course she gave her a totally lame explanation, but it worked.

I forgot to add

Three students to the school list. For some reason why I started the school they didn't show up. I think it's because their mom owns the lot, but I didn't realize that they hadn't shown up until I played the high school. So I tped in Keegan and Danny Ottomas and made them selectable.

Amanda Ottamas is in the 2ed grade

Keegan Ottamas is the only 10th grader

Danny Ottamas is in the 12th grade.

Now that is the complete list of students and I will also add them to my original post! Sorry about that.

Have a great year guys!

What's this now?

Summer, August 2010, Heather Reed is 48, Brandon is 46, Nora is 17 and, Anan is 9.
(if ages are off I'm still trying to figure out a few sims. So just work with me! *smiles*)

Heather stands in the living room playing with the family's new puppy, Spike. He's so cute and tiny. Reminds her a lot of her kids, who are growing like weeds. The twins; Justin and Asia have started on their own lives. And Nora will soon be heading off to college. And though Anan is only 9 before anyone knows it, she will be grown and gone too.

It makes Heather a little sad. It seemed that only yesterday they have moved to Riverdale with the twins still in car sets, and now, well, their almost all gone. Heather doesn't want anymore children, she just wished that she had more time with the ones she does have.

Nora hates when her mom starts babbling on and gets all nostalgic over their childhoods. If it were up to Nora, she would never think about her childhood ever again. She was finally grown (okay, almost)! And she would be taking charge of her life very soon. She really didn't need to hear about how cute she was, or what she looked like when she got hurt and, started to cry.

And Brandon wasn't much help either. Once his wife starts going down memory lane he takes the trip with her. Nora so couldn't wait until she left for college!

***

Heather tries to be a good neighbor too. She goes down stairs to visit Jamie Lopez weekly. Brian Chew, Jamie's boyfriend is out of town. He's been gone for a while now too. Heather didn't say anything, but she was starting to worry.

Heather could see that Jamie was worried as well, but she didn't want to show it in front of the kids. She put on a brave face a refused to talk about it. Heather understood.

But the Lopez - Chew kids missed their dad and they wanted to know when he was coming home. Jamie wanted to know too.

***
Brandon got demoted at work. He wasn't even sure why. One minute he was sitting in his boss's office discussing the progress of the new game his team was working on, when he made an off hand comment about the framed art hanging behind his boss's desk. It really was an ugly piece. But what he didn't know what that the piece was painted by his boss's daughter and, he thought the world of it.

The demotion hurt so much. No one was more qualified than he was to lead the team the finishing the game. So he stood outside for a few moments, crying.

Anan saw her dad crying outside and greeting him at the door with a big hug. She wondered what was wrong. Could her daddy be sad because all Nora talked about was leaving them and running off to this mystical place called college? She didn't know and she guessed that now wasn't the right time to ask either.

"You know, we might not have enough money to send you to college." Heather explained. It was true, they were one of the poorest families in Riverdale. But though they lacked money they did their best to provide for their children and, to give them the best life possible.

Nora only smiled. "I figured that mom. I'm 17 not 5, I know that we don't have much money. I'm trying my best to get a few scholarships and what I can't get, I'll just work while at school."

Nora was determined to go to school. Asia was able to work her way through school and it all paid off. She had a house, a wonderful husband,a great job and, nice clothes. Nora would do the same thing. To bad Justin decided to bypass college and just get on with his life. A lot of jobs would be out of reach for him.

Yeah, Nora knew she's go to college and graduate no matter what.

***

Brandon sat down to watch TV with Anan. "This used to be my favorite show," he explains.

"Dad, I really don't care. I can't hear the show with your mouth running."

"You can sit there and watch it with me, only if you can act like a statue!"

"Yup." Brandon thought. "This is the moment were I've lost my last little girl. She is officially becoming a young woman."

(notes: not much happened on this lot. I think the apartment is buggy since the game kept crashing. It did it with all three families in the building. Anan has a smart mouth on her. I'd wash her mouth out with soap if she were my kid. But she's cute so she can get away with it.

The Reed's really are one of the poorest families in Riverdale, the Chew/Lopez family being another. So sending Nora to college will be though. But I think she's up for the challenge, but we'll have to wait and see.)

Away from home

July, Summer 2010, Cynthia Kim is 55, Viggo is 12, Mary Snowden is 16.5, Edward Christian Jr. is 12 and, Ye T'ang is 15.

It's the night before Viggo and his mom leaves for soccer camp. But it seems that her mind is more focused on Viggo's coming junior and senior high school years. She wants him to put all his time into focusing on school. Obtaining excellent marks in secondary school will help him excel in university.

Everyone met up at the airport. After passing out each teens airplane ticket they all boarded the flight. It wasn't to long of a journey and they arrived at the camp in no time.

To stretch their legs Cynthia, Viggo and, Edward played a game of kicky sack.

After unpacking and settling in, followed by a hot meal they settled down to a game of Don't wake the Llama. Tomorrow was their first big day of training.

Viggo was the first one to hit the field. Though, he should have invested in some practical sports wear. I don't think dancing tights make good soccer wear!

It looks like the leotard tread is contagious, Ye had a pair too!

Mary prides herself on being a pretty good soccer player, but Ye blocks her first kick.

This is the look of determination! (Isn't she cute!)

Score!

Someone has been watching way to many episodes of Heroes!

***
After practice Cynthia takes the kids to one of Three Lake's popular sites.
Viggo meets a local and tries to strike up a conversation. It's obvious that she's not interested and soon walks away.
The boys decide to go on a sight seeing tour.
The girls stayed behind to catch some fish.

Mary caught a big one. Too bad you couldn't get a scholarship for fishing, because she would have one.

***
"You can make a nice living playing sports professionally. Just look at this summer camp. I paid for its construction with my own money." (And a small load, but Cynthia left that part out.)
"Really?" Ye asked, skeptically. "That's not what my father says. He says that the real money comes from having an education and getting by on brains not bronze."
Ye enjoyed soccer, it was why he begged his parents to allow him to attend the summer camp. But making a life out of it was out of the question. He parents wanted him to get an education and, not rely on his physical abilities but rely on his knowledge instead.
"I like soccer, just can't picture making a living from it."

"Well, I think that's being close minded." Mary said. "Anyone can make a decent living from almost anything. You just don't have to be book smart and obtain an education at college to make a good living."

"Yeah, like I want to go into music production when I get old." Edward excitedly shared with the group.

Desperate to get away from the topic now Edward changed the subject. Telling everyone how Viggo called Cameron Smith fat on his orientation. Viggo's horrified that anyone would bring it up and, Cynthia is shocked that her son did such a thing.

Viggo gives a nervous laugh and tries to explain. But Ye will have non of that. He was starting to warm up to Viggo, but no one calls his (hopefully) soon to be girlfriend/wife and mother of his children fat!

"That's just wrong. You don't go around calling girl's fat. I learned that from my mom!" Edward explains. Ye wants to beat some sense into Viggo.

Viggo realized how totally screwed he is. He hasn't even started school yet and he's a social pariah.

But Cynthia assured him that he would not be a social outcast and he would see once the new school year starts.

***
The next morning Ye was still angry by what Viggo did so, he wasn't paying much attention to Mary as she droned on and on about her boyfriend.
One last round of soccer practice.
Edward may not be able to get past Mary's defense.

But he's able to get past Cynthia's!

And before the cab pulls up to take them back to the airport Mary shares with them a story she learned when she visited the Far East as a child. Ye really enjoyed it! He really could wait to travel back to his ancestor's home land.

(notes: Not much really went on at camp. It's a camp, lol. And Mary was the only girl interested in soccer this summer, plus she has no romantic feeling towards any of the boys of Riverdale. But that could be because she has a honey in Simmington Hills. Soccer camp will happen every summer, not sure if I'll update it though. We'll see.
I though it was hilarious how the topic turned from money to Viggo calling Cameron fat. Did you see his face? After that Ye just walked around with Viggo in his thought bubble all the time. He stopped talking to him too.)
