So here's the story...

Not sure what's all going on with my computer, but I'm pretty sure my motherboard is gone. My pc killed over last week. As of right now when I turn on the machine it comes on, but it doesn't make those beeping noses that it normally makes upon booting, plus the monitor doesn't produce a video. I even tried my other monitors. So for now I'm using one of my kids pcs. I'm hoping to find out what's wrong with my computer and get the replacment part(s) this week (hopefully). And the hubby will fix it. I hope to get back to simming soon. I miss my sims so much. :(

  1. Oh, so sorry to hear about your computer. That is frustrating!

I noticed on Laura's, Who are you people anyway, that you don't like gay vampire movies/did like Terminator Salvation. I totally agree, and also have a daughter into the former, although thankfully she's not all about it.

you might think I'm stalking you, but I also noticed you like Dean Koontz. Have you read Odd Thomas? It is SO good. I've just started that one. The hubby got me into Koontz.

Good luck with the transistorized tormentor.

  2. Ugh, I am so depressed (not really) but I am! LOL I miss playing my game, plus it's just strange working on a computer that isn't mine. But at least I get to clean up the kid's computer, update files and other stuff. So that's a plus!

OMG, seriously. I cannot stand those Twilight movies, but at least they are better than the books. I tried to read the first book at it put me to sleep.

I loved Odd Thomas. I plan on rereading that one as well as the sequals that Dean has written for Odd. Odd has become one of my favorite characters Dean has written. Oh, have you read Life Expectancy? I think it's a blue colored book with a coocoo clock on the front. I really enjoyed that one as well as the Taking. Awesome books! I could go on and on about him or Stephen King. I've been reading them since I was a preteen. *smiles*

  3. I can imagine exactly how you feel! I really hope you can get all of this sorted out soon. I kind of miss your Sims too! LOL.

Ha, Twilight! My sister recently watched the first movie on cable. She's telling me now that I have to watch it, because it's worse than I think it'll be. We like watching really bad movies so we can snark on them!

  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your computer problems :(

It definitely sounds like your motherboard has come to its end. Same thing happened to my computer last summer. The good thing is that most likely all your precious stuff is still safe on the hard drive.

  5. Sorry to hear about your computer! I hope you get it figured out soon!

And OMG Twilight, lol! I just had to read the book, just to see what all the hype was about, and I finished it (500-something pages) in *seriously* less than 24 hours. It was so devoid of any real substance, it was like water going through my brain, lol!

It's a good learning experience to read (or watch) bad stories too though, to snark at them, and to learn what not to do ;)

  6. ROFL Carla. You know I actually liked the movie better than the book. Would I watch it again? Never, even if someone offered me a million dollars, I couldn't do it. I liked the second one better, but it still sucked. My girls like the second one much better. They are all for team Jacob. LOL

I'm rereading some of my old entries and they are giving me the sads. I miss my sims so much. I can't wait until I figure out how to buy a motherboard, I'm at a loss on what to look for.

Sari, I will kill my computer if it weren't dead already. LOL How dare it go up on me like this. I'm blaming it on the virus I got. It killed my motherboard. At least I was able to make a backup of Riverdale and burned it onto a CD before the pc died. So at least I won't have to replay and catch up to were I left off.

Any ideas on how to buy a motherboard? Should I try and get the same model as my old one, or one better that that? I'm so lost. Computer stuff makes my head hurt.

Thanks Laura! I wish I still lived nead my BFF her hubby could figure this all out for me. LOL At least my hubby knows how to repair what needs to be fixed for me. So I'm not that lost.

Twilight the book, I didn't even make it through the first 30 pages. LOL It actually made my head hurt. I have never had that happen before from a book. My oldest (who is 12) said that book was written for a first grader. ROFL Like she knows so much.

  7. Odd Thomas is a great combination of existentialism and pithy, random insight. My hubby recommended Life Expectancy, and it looked like a really good one but I took it back the other day because I don't think I'll get to it before it is due. However, I read the jacket and I had put it on my mental list so I'm glad to hear you liked it too.

Once again, I hope your computer ills are remedied soon.

  8. My motherboard went out me last year as well, or so I thought. I purchased a new one and the pc still didn't work (replacing a motherboard is a lot easier than I thought, btw). Turned out it the power supply! Luckily, both items cost me less than $50 total.

Make sure it's the motherboard first though. If it is, write down the exact model number and look on ebay, or my personal pic (www.discountretailers.com). They're based in Austin and if you place your order early enough, they ship the next day. Also be sure to check with the manufacturer to see if it's still under warranty.

p.s I LOVE ODD THOMAS. Try "reading" the series on the audiobooks. And if there is a teen vamp series to be read, it's the House of Night series by PC Cast. They put Twilight series to SHAME! The next book comes out later this month; I think it's the seventh or eighth book. READ IT, I say!

  9. You all are making me want to go and get Odd Thomas once again. LOL But I'll have to wait until I finish Cell, by Stephen King. I love that book too!

I never though that it could be the power supply since I just replaced it about a year ago. I figured it would still be good. Plus, since the motherboard isn't "beeping" when I turn the computer on, I figured it was the problem. Well, I'll see if I can get the hubby to get me a new power supply, or maybe I can get one out of the other computer to test it on mine. And honestly, I have no idea what my motherboard is except for what is on the box that was shipped with the pc. Thanks for the link to the site I'm going to check them out!

  12. *SOBS* Me TOO! Hee hee hee But I'm hoping it's the video card like I told you. I checked the tracking and I'm hoping that the video card will be here either today or tomorrow. I'm trying not to get excited because I don't want to be sad if it turns out not to be the video card. Ya know.
